SAMARIS BLACK LIGHTS
Our obsession with Icelandic trio Samaris continues without hesitation as they unveil the title track from their forthcoming album Black Lights, out 10 June on One Little Indian. 'Black Lights' is only the second ever song in which lead singer Jófríður has turned to English, but its seems to be a case of needs must as the band start to expand onto the international scene. Geography doesn't seem to be a problem for the three musicians though, as Black Lights was written across territories with the group living separately in Berlin, The Hague and Reykjavik. This second single is slightly less ethereal than their last, with its steady light techno beat and surprisingly perfectly matched clarinet. Mixing Icelandic mysticism with European electronics, Samaris are a enthralling combination. - SJ
